NOK-FREUDENBERG (CHINA) Visited China National Heavy Duty Truck Group

NOK-FREUDENBERG (CHINA) (NFC) Truck and Bus Business Unit Manager, Mr. Zhou Xinhua, together with Mr. Stefano Bermond, Heavy Duty Lead Center Manager and Mr. Marco Di Martino, Heavy Duty Lead Center Product Marketing Manager of Freudenberg Sealing Technology (FST) had a customer visit to Sinotruk (Hongkong) Limited Jinan Power Division on May 21st, 2014.

Mr. Wang Deqian, General Manager, Mr. Zhang Lianggang, Purchasing and Outsourcing Department Manager and Vice Manager of Quality Department with colleagues from engine, transmission and axle segments joined in the meeting. Sinotruk (Hongkong) Limited Jinan Power Division belongs to China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC). CNHTC founded in 1956 and is the largest heavy truck manufacturer in China. In 2009, CNHTC forged a strategic partnership with MAN which holding a 25%+1 stake in SINOTRUK (Hongkong) Limited and introduced D8, D20 and D26 engine technologies, medium & heavy-duty axle technologies and corresponding vehicle technologies. With the new application of the MAN platform, NFC will help CNHTC a considerable potential value growth based on good partnership and intensive know-how knowledge between MAN and FST in Europe.

FST Lead Center Heavy Duty activity was described and a comprehensive presentation of the sealing solutions for the Truck & Bus industry was given, resulting in a great deal of interest from CNHTC Team and an intense Q&A discussion at the end of the presentation.

In particular, the Customer was impressed by the size of FST market share in Europe and the complete product portfolio in terms of rotary sealing solutions, ranging from standard RSS to cassette seals.

The need for CNHTC to reach a higher level of quality compared with current standard was the leitmotiv during the whole discussion, and the choice of FST to reach this target is crucial. On the other hand, the need for cost effective solutions was also stressed out, leaving no doubts that expensive import route (due to unfavorable import taxes and uncertain exchange rate fluctuations) is not the preferred choice for a profitable business relationship.

At the end of meeting, FST Lead Center expressed the commitment to vigorously push the localization of key products, like cassette seals, for manufacturing in China soon. Therefore, CNHTC and NFC will become win-win partners in China.
